Another video? Who knew?! Turns out I actually like this filming malarkey! I tried to do a tutorial but it has been AGES since I've played around with eye shadows. I'm not totally confident with how it turned out but it's not too shabby and you get the basic jist of it. I am still experimenting with set-up and how exactly to film, and what style I like. I'm thinking of trying to do more "vloggy" type videos, but I waffle and I'm just not sure my i-Phone has the patience to keep up with that let alone you guys. Anyway, I created here just a twist on a brown smokey eye. The twist is that this has an orangey shimmer shade as the base that then fades into matte shadows. I then paired it with a off-nude lip. I say off-nude because it is nude but its a slightly darker nude then I would normally wear. Hope you enjoy it! xoxo

Yeah... I know what you're thinking. You don't hear from me in weeks and suddenly I pop up with my first Youtube video?! Well it's happening people! Yesterday I just decided on a whim to start filming and thought an 'Everyday 'Make-Up' would be interesting for you guys to see. I filmed this on my i-Phone but I'm actually super surprised with the quality of it, it ain't too shabby. The lighting goes off in places and my editing is sub-par (I only have access to Windows Movie Maker, so y'know...) but I'm pretty proud of myself. I didn't speak in this just because I thought it would be easier, editing wise, to add music in and just show you what I'm doing. Hope you enjoy!

I've been blogging everyday for about a month or so now and for the most part I have really enjoyed it. I like the routine of setting up my blog posts, taking pictures and taking the time to write them. But just lately it's been a little less fun and a bit more of a chore. I've been quite busy with university, my summer project and applying for jobs and internships that I think, for now, my blog has to take a bit of a back seat. Not many of you actually read my blog, so I doubt many of you will even care about me not blogging for a little while, but I thought I would just do a little summary post in case any of you out there actually read my content.

I'll start posting regularly again in a couple of weeks time but for now I'm just too busy. You know, sometimes life get's in the way of certain situations and certain things that you want to do, you can't, and that's okay. One thing I've learnt over the past year is to go with the flow of things. So for the past month I went with the flow of blogging a lot and now I have to focus on my studies and my "career". God, I hate using that word. It just sounds too grown-up and I'm in no-way grown up. But for now, I should be updating my art blog a lot more (http://letsbe-art.blogspot.co.uk/) so check that out and give it a follow. It won't be to everyone's taste, but then again, what is?

As always you can follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr for more regular updates.

*Insert here compulsory ramble about how quickly the month has gone* But for real, where has this month gone?! I actually had to look at the calendar when I saw people uploading their July favourites. As I'm writing this (28th) it is officially a month until my 19th birthday which is just crazy. I honestly do not know where the year has gone. But you don't wanna be hearing about that, let's get on with my favourites!

1/ Neutrogena Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash

I've had this tube for the longest time and I have a sort of love-hate relationship with Neutrogena skin care. I find it's very much targeted towards the more acne-prone people aka teenagers/pre-teens. But, like everyone else, I get pretty gnarley breakouts and this month they seem to have congregated around my chin/jaw. I resorted to this (and one other product) to help reduce them and it really worked. It also helped my pores appear smaller by unclogging them a lil bit. It's a gel formula with tiny exfoliating beads in which really work at getting in there and cleaning out your skin.

2/ No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Balm

Not really much to say about this because I talk about this pretty much every week in a blog post but I'm still loving it. It cleans my skin and purifies it without stripping it. It hasn't made anything worse and I've been loving how nice and clean I feel after using it. Full review can be found here.

3/ Rimmel Glam Eyes Day To Night

I didn't really get on with this mascara when I first got it but I've let it dry out a bit, tried it again and I'm loving it. I think the formula to begin with is a bit too wet for my lashes so it weighs them down a bit but now it's of a different consistency it really works at lengthening my lashes and adding volume. It's a two step system; step 1 adds length and step 2 adds volume. I'd agree with that, it's pretty good stuff.

4/ Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash and Mask

This is part 2 of what's really been helping my breakouts at the moment. This is quite an intense clay based mask that really gets to work at drawing out all the impurities and unclogging pores. I went through a stage of using this everyday and actually burnt my skin as such I fell out of love with it for a little while. But now I use it probably once a month just to draw everything out. I can't use it once a week because it would be too intense for my dry skin but by using it once a month I really notice a difference in my skin. I just have to be sure to moisturise really well after.

5/ Rimmel London Match Perfection Concealer

I talked about this in my Concealer Diary post that was up the other day and I really love this stuff. You have to work slow with it, build it up in thin layers but it's really quite lovely. It comes off a little orange to begin with but soon adapts to the colour of my skin tone which is pretty nifty. Don't want no orange patches on my face! It does crease a little bit under the eyes but nothing to write home about.

6/ Garnier 5 Second Perfect Blur

In depth review of this product here. But I truly am having a love affair with this little guy. It's just so smooth, so velvety and really disguises my pores. Even if you don't have enlarged pores and just want a good primer, try it! This stuff is ace.

Sorry this post is kinda rushed I wasn't really feeling it today. Hence why each review is a little sparse, but I have linked you through to more detailed reviews if I've done them. What are your favourite products of the month?

Skin Care can be a minefield if you don't know where you going. Over the past few years skin care has really exploded throughout the blogging world and even outside of bloggers. The drugstore have really stepped up their game and have started to release some super cool products. With that, it can be pretty confusing knowing where to start if you're fairly new to skin care. I know that when I started I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't have an older sister to teach me and my mum doesn't have a routine so I was fairly lost. Through trial and experimentation I have found what my skin likes and what it dislikes and what you need in a routine. I want to stress that this is a routine that has worked for me; I experiment a lot and switch up my routine constantly but this is just a basic routine to get you started. Take from this what you will, but I'm basically giving you the skeleton and you gotta flesh it our for yourselves!

1/ MAKE-UP REMOVER

To start off with you need a BASIC cleanser to remove your make-up. This can be in any form you wish: cleansing water, make-up wipes or you could even miss this step and just go straight to your cleanser. The whole point about a skin care routine is that it's tailored to YOUR SKIN. I cannot stress that enough. For removing my make-up I like the Simple Face Wipes, Garnier Micellar Water and Simple Eye Make-Up Remover. The drugstore, supermarkets etc do so many versions of this now so you just gotta find what works for you.

2/CLEANSER

After you remove your make-up you've got to cleanse your skin. Just because the make-up is gone doesn't mean your skin is clean. You need something to purify, clean out your pores and get any spots you may have missed. This is where the cleaning really takes place. I like the Simple Cleanser and No 7 Cleansers. I'm not too picky at this stage. Cleansers are quite personal so whatever works at making your skin feel good, go for it. Don't be afraid to not like something.

3/TONER/REFRESHER

This is where you refresh your skin and inject a little bit of life back into it. This stage also helps to really make sure your make-up has gone. This is probably the most frivolous part of my routine, I don't think I've ever stuck to just one toner in my life. Currently I'm using a tea tree water concoction that I made but Simple and Garnier do some really nice ones. And if you're feeling a little bit flash Omorovicza do a rather luxurious one.

4/ SERUM

Serums can be quite a crucial part to your routine. This is the product that has first contact with your skin so it's real important you get this one right. Personally, I don't use a serum these days. I haven't found one that I love and that's affordable. It's very important you get a product that caters to your needs; if you have dehydrated/dry skin get a hydrating serum. Even if you have acne prone skin you may need to get a hydrating serum. I recommend going to see a dermatologist or some sort of skin-care expert to see what your skin type is so you can buy products accordingly. I really rate Hydraluron for this step.

5/MOISTURISER/OIL

This is the barrier for your skin. During the day you're going to want to use something with an SPF to really protect your skin from the elements. I like the Soap and Glory Youthful SunShield, but any SPF that works for you is fine. You just need something that has at least SPF 30 in it, and protects from UVA and UVB filters. I also like the Simple moisturiser for day. For night, this isn't necessary. At night is when you want your skin to breathe, you want it to be rejuvenated for the next day. It's totally personal preference whether you use a moisturiser or oil here. I say don't use an oil for day just because make-up won't sit well underneath it, but for night you want something to really get working on the surface and underneath. I don't like oils but to be honest I haven't experimented much with them. As a night moisturiser I like something that's thick, really sinks in and injects my skin with moisture. Nivea and Simple do a really good one. It's also a common misconception that because you have oily skin you don't need a moisturiser but YOU DO! Your skin could be dehydrated, this makes something under your skin produce more oil because it senses that your skin is dry, so a good moisturiser is essential!

6/EXTRAS

SCRUB - A good scrub or chemical exfoliator is necessary at removing all the dead skin cells and letting you skin heal over better. If you have acne scarring or dark spots this is an essential step for you as the exfoliators will get to work at renewing the cells. I haven't tried chemical exfoliators as I'm a true fan of using a manual scrub. I'm not picky when it comes to scrubs, they're all a much of a muchness for me so it's up to you.

FACE MASK - I also think having a good clarifying face mask and a good hydrating face mask are essential in any kit. You need something to really draw out all of the impurities of the skin at the end of the week, especially if you wear make-up the majority of the week. A hydrating mask is always handy to have because we all get dry skin in the winter!

EYE CREAM - Eye creams are personal, if you're a teen then it's a good chance you don't need an eye cream. I'm nearly 19 and I've been using an eye cream for 5 years just to get myself into the routine of it. If you want an eye cream or have a dry eye area I recommend the Simple one.

SPOT TREATMENT - Spot treatments also fall into this category. We all get that one nasty spot that comes up when we least expect it and to battle this I use tea tree oil. There are plenty of spot treatments on the market so take your pick!

A couple of months ago now I did some make-up for a close friend, Becca, as part of her photography project. This was all based around dreams and documents she had collected about peoples dreams. It's a very creepy project but right up my ally! She asked me and I volunteered to work as a make-up artist on this shoot, this was my first time working with someone and I was so excited. I found it quite hard to work on the model as he wasn't actually a "model" so wasn't used to someone poking his eyeball with an eyeliner! I joke of course, if you're poking peoples eyeballs with an eye-liner you shouldn't be doing make-up.

The make-up was nowhere near to how I wanted it but it took a little longer than any of us had anticipated just because I had to make some alterations to what I had envisioned. The day before I practised on myself and you can see that picture just above and that took me about an hour. The logistics of it were crazy; I had to figure out where the cheekbones would go, how to hollow out the eye and where to place the teeth. But it was all worth it in the end and the pictures look insane (thanks to Becca's photography ;)) You can check Becca out here: Rebecca Elisha Miller Photography.

Concealer is such a guilty pleasure for me. Whenever I enter a Boots or a Superdrug I immediately go to the concealer and swatch to my hearts content! I think concealer is kind of overlooked quite a lot in the beauty industry, it really is an amazing product. When done well a concealer can highlight, prime your eyes, cover dark circles, cover blemishes, contour, shade and you could even use it to cover up marks on your body. I know foundation is "go-to product" in the blogging world but for me it's concealer. It's a real winner. So I thought I would give you a run down on all the concealers I own. I don't own too many (I wittled down my stash a few days ago but sssh) but I do have a variety and I think a collection similar to this would more than see you through.

Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer - Rating: 8/10

Kind of a staple within the beauty world now, this concealer CAN be pretty awesome stuff. I say can because it can easily become super cakey. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this little guy but after experimenting with it for a while I've found a way to use it that works for me. I use the tiniest amount and blend it out a lot. It's super pigmented so covers quite well but like I said it dries down to quite a matte finish so it has a tendency to go cakey. Good, but not goof-proof. They also have a nice colour selection, I say nice because it caters to all us pal gals out there but as far as I'm aware it doesn't have any offerings for the beautiful darker complexions.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - Rating: 6/10

Bloggers seem to go pretty mad for this one and I'm not really sure why. Yes, it's an okay concealer. In the summer I can make it work. But there is little to no colour there, the formula is quite patchy and the shade range is poor. I have the palest shade and it leaves this orange hue to my skin. I think if it came with a better colour selection then I'd dig it for under my eyes but I've got cheaper concealers that do a far better job than this. However if you have a darker skin tone to me you could always try it as a highlighter? Experiment.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream - Rating: 6/10

This is a fairly new release from Bourjois, it comes within their '123 Perfect' range. Y'all know I love the CC Cream within this line but I kinda feel this product is a bit of a dud. The applicator is a bit of a hit/miss within the blogging world but I like it. It's super hygienic and really refeshing from the typical doe foot applicators you see. But it can get clogged if you don't clean it properly. The formula is quite weird as it's almost like a gel based concealer, this feels quite refreshing when applied, but it doesn't really cover too well. I mean there is coverage there and it's a lot better than the Rimmel one above but it's just not worth the price tag in my opinion. To put it simply, it's good for a drugstore concealer but not good enough for what you'd expect from Bourjois.

NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer - Rating: 5/10

Didn't expect much from this, if I'm totally honest. I just put it in my online basket just to try and it and see if it was worth anything. It's okay. If you have oily skin I think you'll like this. Just because it's very easy to blend, works very well with your natural oils and sets down to quite a matte finish. You do have to set it with a powder because it does, or at least it did on my skin, move around a little bit. It has this brightening effect when placed underneath the eyes which I enjoyed but it creased like a b****! I like to put something on and know it isn't going to move, I'm not about the whole "running to the mirror every 5 minutes to check my make-up" life. I have dry skin so it soaked up this product a little bit. It just didn't like my skin.

Rimmel Stay Matte Dual Action Concealer - Rating: 7/10

As old school as this concealer is, I really like it! It was my concealer for my Summer Ball and it did not budge! I applied it under my eyes, on blemishes and on some general redness and it was great. It actually has a little green circle that is surrounded by the concealer which is an interesting concept I had never seen before. Apparently the green is supposed to help heal the blemish as well as cover, I don't know too much about that but it covered it nicely. And the green pigment helped to disguise the redness. It's around £4.99 so it's really cheap and it works. What more could you ask for? If you're super dry I wouldn't use this all over your face just because it is more of a drier consistency.

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer - Rating: 4/10

I really do not like this product! I love Collection as a brand but I don't like this concealer. There's no coverage, it's too dark, the colour is quite weird and it's quite drying. This just seemed to disappear on my skin tone but was still there if that makes sense? I don't know how to describe this product, it's just weird! I did like it but I think my skin has changed because it doesn't sit right. It's very pink based which just accentuates the pink in my skin, it has a creamy texture to apply but it dries up on the skin. I don't find myself reaching for this product at all but I know plenty of people who love it so give it a try! You never know, it might just be me.

Rimmel Match Perfection Skin Tone Adapting Concealer- Rating: 8/10

This is my favourite concealer at the moment! It's gorgeous. I bought this on a wim way back at the beginning of May because I remember Fleur (fleurdeforce) talking about this years ago. It's part of the Match Perfection Range and I really love the foundation so I thought why not? It comes in a squeezy tube with a brush applicator on the end. It's super weird and you do have to experiment with it so you get hang of how to use it. But when you figure it out it's so nice. It covers so well, I use this over my blemishes and my dark circles and it's great at cancelling everything out. I have the lightest shade and it's a tad too dark but it sort of adapts to my skin tone? (very weird, much science) So when it settles in it's the exact same colour as my skin tone. It's so buildable, you can build it up, thin layer by thin layer to get your desired coverage, and it stays put. J'adore!

My collection is far from the biggest but it's nice and I like it. Although I don't like everything, I do have a productive way to use everything. What's your favourite concealer?

The other day I did an updated skin care post, which you can read all about here, where I mentioned I was only using 3 products post cleansing. I've never really gone through my cleansing routine in a post and I did say I would follow up that post with my cleansing routine so here we go!

Before I do anything I wash my hands. Normally when I wear make-up it's because I've had a busy day; I've been out and about, been to meetings/interviews/tutorials, let's just say I've been a busy bee. That a higher chance of getting all sorts of nasty germs on my hands that I don't want anywhere near my face. My skin is a precious vessel and should be treated as such. After I've washed my hands on move onto to actually removing my make-up. I'm not fussy when it comes to removing my make-up, surely as long as it gets rid of the make-up it's doing a good job, right? But I kinda stocked up on the Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-Up Remover. I soak a cotton pad in this and press it gently against my eye for about 30 seconds and wipe away. This just gets rid of the intial layer of eye make-up and really works at removing stubborn mascara. I then go in with the Simple Kind To Eyes - Eye Make-Up Remover. This is basically like water in a bottle and is really great at making sure every last scrap of make-up is off.

All my eye make-up is removed now it's time to start breaking down my base products. For an intial cleanse I use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I've never tried Bioderma but I've heard that this is basically the same thing for a fraction of the price. I soak a larger cotton wool pad in this and wipe it all over my face, neck, eyes, ears, back of my neck and my collar bone area. You work so hard at making sure everything is blended in you gotta work even harder to make sure you remove it properly! So I don't miss a spot.

At this point the majority of my make-up is well a truly gone. I take my No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Lotion as my first cleanser. This works at breaking down the make-up in any areas that I have missed. I'm not committed to this 100%, the price and the smell is a big turn off for me, but I have a bottle of it and I'm trying to use it up. The Simple Cleanser does exactly the same, if not better, of a job. I smooth this into my skin (face, neck etc) and take a damp flannel/muslin cloth and begin to buff (polish) it away using circular motions. This just removes any excess make-up and incorporates a little bit of exfoliation into my routine. Double cleansing is important so I then go in with the No 7 Cleansing Balm (full review here) just to purify my skin. I then follow up with a spritz of a toner (tea tree water) and go on with my actual skin care.

When I write it down like this it kinda seems like a lot but it's really not. For me, it's a very simple process that I've spent the best part of a year trying to perfect. My skin still breaks out but this just makes sure that nothing gets too out of hand. I hope you learnt something from this or maybe you just enjoyed reading it!

I've never really done a "wishlist" post before; I don't really see the point in them. It's like, "Oh hey, look at all the stuff I want but can't get (!)" I'd rather show you guys stuff I have and my opinions on them because with a wishlist all I can show you is products that I don't know for sure work? I don't know, just my opinion! I'm having a bit of a "no-spending" time at the moment. Having no money to spend might be a big contributing factor to this, but I'm trying to get into the habit of saving my money and not wasting on stuff I don't need just because "it looks pretty" or whatever excuses I come up with. But I've conformed to the masses and I thought I'd let you guys know some stuff that I'm currently pining after.

1/ Dior Addict Lip Glow ¦ £23.50

Since the brand discontinued the beautiful Dior Creme De Rose (boo!) I've been on the hunt for a beautiful rose scented lip balm. I've found that my skin, and general self, works incredibly well with rose scents. Some people can find it quite granny-ish but I personally love it, I have a real soft spot for old fashioned smells. This looks like it could be a nice replacement for my other lip balm but I'm still undecided.

2/ Omorovicza Refining Facial Polisher ¦ £65

This brand just screams luxury. The smell, the branding, the ingredients, the embassadors everything is perfection. I had the opporutnity to try out some of their skin care recently and I have fallen head of heels for this brand. I've tried a few things from their range but what really stood out to me was their Refining Facial Polisher. It's full of perfectly small exfoliating beads that have been drenched in a sea of algae liquid. Full of anti-oxidants and all nice stuff like that, it works at buffing away dead skin cells and really perfecting the skin while hydrating it at the same time. This is kind of a cheat as I've already tried the product but I hope to own the full size of this one day!

3/ Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Renewing Rose Cleanser ¦ £25

This is another little cheat. Y'all know I've tried this before, if you've read my June Favourites post, and I loved it! It's a beautiful rose scented cleanser that really works to purify and hydrate the skin. I only had a little miniature version of this and even though I savoured every last drop that quickly got finished. The price of this makes this product a little off of my radar but who knows? Maybe, one day, I'll splurge on this.

4/ Kenzo Flower In The Air - Eau De Parfum ¦ £38.50

Lastly is this beautiful perfume by Kenzo. Like with the previous, I have a sample of this and I've fallen had of heels for it. It's a beautiful, light flowery scent that is perfect for summer. It's not too overpowering that it interferes with your everyday but whenever you move you can get this slight wiff of perfume and it's delightful. I thought my love for the Hugo Boss Pour Femme (Y'know the one with Gwyneth Paltrow) was real but this is a whole 'nother level! I'd say the Hugo Boss is more for the Winter time though and this is very much a light Summer fragrance. The price is very off putting but hopefully I'll get a very generous birthday present!

And that's it for my wishlist this time round! I don't really have many things I'm pining after to be totally honest, or I just can't think of them, who knows?! Hope you enjoyed this post!

Back when I was first getting into make-up I used to experiment with it a lot. But these days, not so much. I used to see every opportunity to wear make-up as an opportunity to experiment but these days I've been very neutral and quite boring, to be honest. Everyday was a day to wear a smoky eye, so today I thought I'd do a little "pic-torial" on how I achieved this smoky eye. I just sat down with all my eyeshadows and tried to create something nice.

First up I primed my eyes with the Rimmel Primer. I just took the tiniest but of this and smoothed it all over my eye before setting this with the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed powder. I feel putting a powder on top and really layering up the products helps with the longevity of the make-up. As a base for the shadow I applied my Maybelline Colour Tattoo all over the lid. This shade is quite dark and quite chalky when applied so I take the smallest amount and really work it in before going in with another layer just to build up the colour. I then blended this with a fluffy synthetic brush.

Eyes all primed now to move onto shadows! As I have hooded eyes (hence why my eyes are closed in the pictures, so you can see the colours) I like to not only define my crease but also lift it a little bit, to give the illusion of a lifted eye. I used Lavish from the MUA palette to start this. I used windswiper motions to hollow out my crease. I carried on, applying colour and then blending out it until I was happy. To help the crease blend into my skin colour, and as a preparation step for the smoky eye, I applied some Natural Collection blush to the very edge of my crease. This gave the look a pink hue and allowed the crease to blend perfectly. I also applied a little dab of MUA Eye-shadow in Shade 19 to the very hollow of my crease for extra dimension.

Next up was colour. I applied Shade 24 all over the lid, really packing on the colour. I then blended this into the crease. Once I was happy with the undertone of purple I went in with Wink to not only soften the purple but also to help with the gradient from colour to crease. This had a lot of shimmer running through it and ended up giving the eye a "foiled" effect which I really liked. To add a little bit of warmth to the look I took a little bit of Fiery; a very orange based shimmer. I just applied a little bit onto the outer edge, nearer the crease. When you work with colour like this you lose a lot of definition in the crease so I went back in with the Shade 19, just to ensure the dimension was kept. I then decided to create a more feline shape to the look so extended the crease, just a little bit, and joined it to my lash line so that it created a dark brown wing. I then extended my crease inwards towards the eye, just a tad, to add extra shape.

You'll notice that a smoky eye is, most of the time, all about going back on yourself and checking everything is there and no definition has been lost. It's also about the blending. Every now and then I'd just run a brush along the whole eye lid to check things were smooth. I was now happy with the top eye so moved onto liner. I took a little bit of the Maybelline Brown Eye-Liner and applied it, messily, on my top lash line slightly winging it out. I then took a little brush and my Shade 19 and packed this on top. Moving on to a slightly fluffier, but still small, brush I softened this out. I then applied the eye-liner to my bottom lash line (notice, LASH line, not tight line. I want to keep the eyes open). And smudged this out with Lavish. I then took Shy and Reveal, mixed them together, and placed it in the inner corner section of the eye. This really created a nice gradient across the shadows. I applied a generous amount of Rimmel Mascara. This look could have easily done with a nice set of false lashes but I didn't have any to hand. I then took the Maybelline mascara and lightly ran it along my bottom lashes.

This is the point where you can go back in and check that everything is right. I decided to deepen my crease a little bit more with a touch of Corrupt. This is a very black colour and extremely pigmented so I only used the tiniest amount and blended it out. My lash line wasn't as defined as I wanted it to be. I would normally do this is I had been wearing false lashes so I ran a little of the Collection Liner along my top lash line and winged out slightly. I also tight-lined with the Scandal Eyes pencil which just made the look more sleek.

I then added a bit of concealer and eyebrow gel for the photos. That's it! It was so refreshing to just start messing around with make-up again, I truly am in my element with make-up. I feel like this might be nice for going out or maybe you could recreate a more toned down version for a bridal look. I really like the colours involved, as they're quite cool but have warm undertones which looks super nice. Let me know what you think and if you want me to start doing some tutorials?

With proms, balls, parties etc coming up I thought I would do a bit of a flashback to my Summer Ball. It was only last year but I already know it will be a day that'll stick in my mind forever. For the very reason that it was the first time I had felt truly beautiful and truly myself. I had been through a lot with my weight, depression and just not feeling comfortable with myself. Nobody every looked at me and said, "She's so pretty." No-one used to stop and stare at me before, but since that night my entire perception of myself changed.

I basically saw this as my "do-over prom". Prom (Year 11, 2012) was very rushed for me and nothing went right. My dress was horrible, my hair was horrendous and everything was just wrong. I wasn't originally going to go to prom, hence the rush. So when Summer Ball came around I knew I had time to plan. We had to decide pretty quickly whether or not we wanted to go so I had a good 7 months for prep time. Time to experiment with make-up, hair, outfit choices. I experimented with my make-up a lot and I'll be doing a post tomorrow on how I did this and recreating the look for your guys. I couldn't really experiment too much until I chose my dress, however, but I did find my right foundation, the concealer and products that would last on my skin.

Once I got my dress which, after a lot of looking, turned out to be this very basic blue jersey dress from Boohoo, I knew how everything was going to go down. I was heavily inspired by Kate Middleton for my look and it happened to be a mix of her engagement outfit with her wedding hair & make-up. Because my dress was blue I tried a blue smokey eye, but that didn't fit right. I wanted something timeless. That I would look back on and love. In the end I opted for a brown smokey eye, perfected & blushed skin with a nude lip. It was perfect.

Then for my hair I knew I wanted big bouncy curls. I did not know that it was going to chuck down with rain and my curls would look very un-perfected before we even got to the venue. I washed my hair a few hours before and let it air dry. I then pin curled it into place, hair sprayed it and left it for a good 4 hours while I did my make-up and generally faffed around. I then gently brushed out the curls and backcombed the base of it. I then took two pieces of hair, put them to the back of my head, joojed it up and pinned it into place. It was a perfect Bardot, 60's look.

*Sophie, Me and Bethany*

I then paired my blue dress with black tights, black court heels and a rose gold belt. The belt matched perfectly to my nails (after days of experimenting), I wore 1 bracelet (a very special number that has only ever made an appearance at this event) and had a pair of simple diamond studded ball studs. I loved myself. I had worked for months to see that everything went perfect and I felt proud; like Dr Frankenstein, when his creation comes to life. I know this may sound a little bit pathetic to you and some of you might not understand it but this was a huge deal for me. It was like my "coming out" party. People I had never spoken to before, complimented me. These were people who I thought didn't even like me.

I impressed them but more importantly I impressed myself. This was my real turning point in coming out of my "ugly duckling" phase and everything has just been up-hill from here. I feel confident about my looks. I look at myself and I am happy. I'm happy with my appearance. Yes I get insecure about my weight, but I'm COMFORTABLE. And that's the most important thing isn't it? Being comfortable with who you are. Sorry this was kind of long but it's been over a year since my Summer Ball and I just really wanted to document where I am now. And to let you all know that it gets better. Hope you're all well.

I know, I know what you're thinking: "Pretty bold statement there, Deanna!" Well it's true. I think I have found my ultimate primer. Ignore the claims it has; the standard "smooths everything, does everything, cures everything malarkey" because that's not true. This doesn't do everything and if it did I wouldn't like it. However it does make the claim of blurring pores. Now that, that I'm interested in! You can really see in my bronzer review post just how enlarged my pores are. They are just plain nasty. I never had a problem with my pores until I decided to start faffing about with skin care and now I feel like the moon with the amount of craters on my face! But I digress, this product really gets to work at blurring all of these out. It's clearly very silicone heavy; the product has a bit of slip to it and feels as if it has silicone in it. It doesn't seem to block my pores though, nor clog them up. I just make sure to do a thorough double cleanse after wearing it.

I apply the tiniest amount on to my hand and smooth it over where I feel my pores are largest and where I can get a little bit oily. I then leave this to settle in for about 10 minutes, while I do the rest of my make-up, and come back to concealer/foundation. As a finishing touch I'll take the tiniest amount and proceed to use a rub/pat motion and press it into my make-up where my pores are especially prominent and where I'm starting to develop a little bit of shine. This helps keep shine at bay and keep my make-up in place ALL day. This stuff does not joke around. I'd say if your acne prone then maybe give it a miss as it might clog your skin up even more. But I can honestly say this is one of the best primers I have found! It takes some getting used to and some experimenting to see how it works for your skin but I don't have any fault with it. I picked it up at Asda for £5 but it currently retails for £12.99 (£8.66 on sale) here. I have paid a lot more for primers so it's a very reasonable price. If you can see if you can get a sample before you buy it. Have you tried this product before? What's you favourite primer?

A few months ago I was very comfortable with my skin-care routine. It had everything I thought I needed in there and nothing was getting worse so I thought I had a pretty good routine. But that's the issue, I was at a bit of a standstill. I was still breaking out a little bit but like I said nothing was getting out of hand so I just stuck with it. I recently ran out of a few of my standard products and for some reason I didn't feel the need to repurchase them. I think it was divine intervention, personally.

This forced me to have a bit of a reshuffle of my ENTIRE skin care stash; cleansers, moisturisers, the lot! I'll be doing another post on how I remove my make-up and my cleansing routine but for now I'm just going to focus on the post cleansing situation. I cleanse with the No 7 Cleansing Balm; I did switch this up for my Simple Gel Wash but that was just drying out my skin again. So I started using this and my skin is acting a little more normal, rather than extremely dry. I no longer use a serum. I go straight from cleanser to eye cream. I apply the Simple Eye Balm liberally on the eye area. I then take the Simple Kind To Skin Light Moisturising Lotion and apply this everywhere. I apply this on to my face, neck, collar-bone/shoulders area and my ears. Including these areas into my routine has helped a lot as well, I don't break out as much on my neck. I get little bumps every now and then but that's usual. I let this moisturiser sink in and then apply a bit of a thicker moisturiser; the Garnier Moisture Match for normal to dry skin. I like this for adding another layer of moisture which I really need. And that's it. That's everything. This is my routine for morning and night. On some days I will use my standard SPF (Soap and Glory) on top of my moisturiser but I've been skipping this step lately and just applying my make-up. The change to my skin is incredible; it looks and feels so much less congested, suffocated and just looks fresher. So if you're a bit frustrated with your skin care try going back to basics. Have you ever tried this method?

I have written and re-written this post so many times over the course of the last few months. In a world where my make-up and skin care are fairly simplistic and easy, hair care is where I like to experiment a little bit more. Throughout the years I haven't been too kind to my hair; blasting it with a hair-dryer, dousing it in mousse, straightening and all the horrible hair cuts. I've definitely put my hair through a lot! But to keep it in tip-top condition here's a few things I like to do. Warning: This one is gonna be a rambly one!

I ALWAYS start every hair wash with a hair mask before I even touch my hair with water. My hair is naturally very curly (or should I say was, it's tamed down to more of a wave now) and so is very dry on the ends, with quite oily roots. I also find putting a hair mask on dry hair absorbs a lot better. I'm not committed to hair masks, I've been through a fair few, but I like the L'Oreal Ever Pure Intense Mask for coloured hair and the Garnier 1 minute mask for colour hair. I'm also partial to a little Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Treatment but I have run out and haven't repurchased it yet! If I'm feeling extra fancy I'll mix a bit of hair oil into the mask to give it a bit more oomph. Throw it up in a bun and leave for a few hours.

I then take down the bun and rinse out the hair mask. This leaves my hair quite soft but I still like to go in with an ordinary conditioner. I'm not too bothered about this either but I've really been liking the Garnier Ultimate Blends range for this. Both the Silky Smoother Conditioner and the Colour Illuminator Conditioner are fabulous and extremely affordable. That's one thing I like about my hair care is that it's very affordable so I never waste money. The Aussie Conditioner for Coloured Hair is quite lovely to use as well. I leave this to sit for about 5 minutes then rinse out.

This is where it gets interesting. Over the past 6 months I've been reverse washing my hair; you put conditioner in, rinse and then shampoo your hair. This just gets out all the residue left over from the conditioner. It's fabulous and leave my hair incredibly bouncy and full of life. For shampooing I'm a little more picky; nothing too stripping but clarifying will do the trick for me. I love the L'Oreal Ever Pure Shampoo as it's sulphate free so doesn't strip out colour too much but I tend to save this for when I want a deep clean of my hair. On a more "everyday" basis I love the Garnier Ultimate Blends on days where I just want to freshen up and smell gorgeous. Again I like the Silky Smoother Shampoo and the Colour Illuminator Shampoo. I tend to only shampoo the roots as this is where the oil/product build up generally is; I really work into my roots working from the base of my neck towards my forehead. Fingers are the key here, people!

Once this is done I ring out my hair and squeeze out all the excess moisture and take a little dollop of my conditioner and run it through the very ends of my hair. This acts as a leave in and adds extra moisture right where I need it. I then squeeze my hair again and throw it up in to a little turby towel. After letting it rest for about 30 minutes I take it out of the towel and give my hair a good shake to loosen it up. I turn my head upside down and take my fingers and really rough it up at the roots. I then take the Aussie Leave-In Conditioner and spray a good amount throughout my locks. I'm not picky with this, anything I have lying around will do! To add a real dose of nourishment to the ends of my hair I then take the Garnier Ultimer Blends, The Marvellous Glow Oil . This is the first hair oil I've tried and I'm not scared of them any more! I love this one for adding just the right amount of nourishment without being too oily. The pump makes it easy to dispense as well. Marvellous!

I'm taking a break from blow-drying my hair so heat defence isn't necessary. Although, my hair oil does have a heat defence already built in. But I still like to spray some of the L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protect Styling Volume Spray and spray it all over my hair, just because it smells delightful! As you can tell, I'm all about the good smelling products. I then either leave my hair down and let it dry naturally or I take a hair dressers grip, wrap my hair around in a bun, secure it and let it dry that way. I don't wash my hair all too often. Because I haven't been going out anywhere, just recently I've been washing it once a week. Just so it lets the natural oils do its thing. I went through a period of over washing my hair and it wasn't good! I also dye my hair using the Garnier Olia range, I used to use the Herbashine range but they have since discontinued it. I'm not particular about the colour as long as it's a shade of red, and I'm not loyal to Olia it just seems to be the only one that I'm not allergic to! I then get my hair cut every 12 weeks. I hope that this may have been helpful to some of you looking for some new hair care. Like I said, I'm not loyal to any of these it just so happens to be my routine now. Let me know what hair care products you love, down below!
If you've been around for the past few months you'll know about the launch of the Revlon Matte Balms; you can see my review of the shade Elusive here. It's a little too bright for my liking. The shade, by itself, works lovely against my complexion but I just don't feel all too comfortable wearing something so bright. So I decided to tone it down with the Collection Creme Puff in Angel Delight. This is a standard nude, beige colour. The hit of cool orange in the shade contrasts and tones down the brightness of the pink. The stand-out quality about these Creme Puffs are the smell! Ugh, delightful! I just want to eat them! The smell works well with the mint from the Matte Balm. Not exactly what I look for in a lip colour, but who am I to complain?

I really like the two paired together to give me this real toned down, every day, baby pink. Both of these products are very matte and can be very drying on the lips. To combat this I like to wear a lip balm while I do the rest of my make-up, leaving the lips to last, then apply these two. Although matte, both of this products have a little bit of slip in them which makes them lovely to apply. I'm not a fan of the packaging of the Revlon Matte Balms (a little bit too unhygienic for my liking!) but I can deal. What's your favourite lip combo?

When it comes to decorating I really like to have some trinkets positioned neatly around my room. I think displaying little nik-naks around are an easy way to display your personality without being overly garish. The windowsill is the general meeting place for these little bits and bobs so I thought I would do a post on how to decorate your windowsill.

A pot plant is a very simple way to add a bit of colour/greenery to your room while remaining very simple and unique. Here I have an Easter cactus which was on sale at Morrisons; when I picked it up it was barely alive but I've managed to nurture it back to health. I think having a plant to care for is quite nice and the feeling you get for keeping this plant alive is quite satisfying. They are also great a stress relieving; if I could have more plants in my room I totally would. No need to get something fancy, just buy something quite low maintenance, like a cactus, and you'll be fine. Next to it I have a little puzzle world map which is just interesting to look at. I also think a windowsill is a nice place to display any mini collections you have going on. A few years back I really got into collecting miniature vans; I think the designs are quite quirky and they looked really precious in there little casings. It was an expensive hobby so I kinda stopped after collecting 5 but I've grown to love my little collection. They display nicely on the windowsill and add a little quirkiness to it.

I also like to display my jewellery here, mainly because I have nowhere else to put it. During the day I have to put a little bit of paper up to stop the jewellery getting discoloured but I don't mind. It looks cool and keeps it out of my way. All my precious pieces are stored in the blue box so that they won't get any type of discolouration whatsoever. And next to this I keep a couple of odd things that I found; a dead butterfly and an abandoned wasp nest. I didn't purposefully take these items and I never would; I have a fairly big garden so finding new things is easy. I was wandering around one day and came across this perfectly preserved dead butterfly and thought it would look beautiful displayed in a jar like this. I then came across the abandoned wasp next a few weeks later and decided to display that as well. Again, a very quick way of making your room your own. Then I have my jar of pennies. Truth be told, this jar was getting a little heavy for my desk so I just plonked it on the windowsill and it seemed to work. Every now and then I empty the jaw but I think it's quite interesting to have it here. I hope this helped you when it comes to decorating and do let me know some of your ideas down below!

I'm about a month into my healthy eating quest and so far it's going okay. When you live in a household where you aren't responsible for the main food shop it can be quite hard to be healthy, especially the kind of healthy I would like to be. However every now and then I like to buy a few easy, and more importantly cheap, ingredients that allow me to be a little more healthier with my meals.

A standard breakfast for me normally consists of 2 scrambled eggs and nothing more. I also tend to have a pint (or 2) of water and a cup of green tea before this, but I like to keep my breakfast minimal. I find that if I start my day with a massive breakfast it just makes me hungrier throughout the day and I eat a lot more, more often. Where as if I have something small I feel full and satisfied without wanting to eat a couple of hours later. I decided to experiment today with something a bit more fruity. In here we have 2 spoonfuls of fat free, natural, vegan vanilla yoghurt with one chopped banana and some warmed up summer berries. The yoghurt was 90p, the banana's were 56p for a bunch and the summer berries were £1.98 for 500g. I was impressed with how cheap this was, and these ingredients will easily last me 5 days.

If you don't like it like this, you can throw it all into a blender with some flax-seed or chia seed, some pineapple (I forgot pineapple this time), and whatever you fancy and make a smoothie with it. One tip I have is to buy frozen berries; they're cheaper and you get more for your money. Throw some berries in a bowl, put them in the microwave for a few minutes and put them on top of your breakfast and you have fresh fruit with added natural syrup. Easy peasy! In the bowl above there was actually too much for me and I couldn't finish it all. Experiment with fruit and see what you come up with! Let me know some healthy recipes you know down in the comments.

As I promised in my update post I am now writing my 1st Year University low down post. I left it a little later than I had intended to because I thought there's no real point in writing a "review" type dealio if I didn't know my grades, y'know? Y'all ain't gonna respect my opinion if my grades are shit. But luckily I passed! Well I did more than pass with a high 2:1. Hate to blow my own trumpet but I'm pretty darn proud of that grade. With everything I went through last year, with the changes I had to go through, my mental state and the fact I was considering dropping out of uni altogether, I'm proud of myself. There's no shame in saying that, right?

So first year started out rough for me. You can go back to some of my earlier posts about university if you really wanna know the deets on that situation. But around about March time things started to pick up for me. I was getting into the flow of my course and I was really starting to enjoy myself. I think, like any big change, University takes a lot of getting used to. I had it easy in the way that I was still living at home so I didn't have to deal with the whole home sickness aspect. But this quickly became a bit of a drawback; I have trouble making friends as it is and the first few months were pretty lonely. But it's all good now. My confidence has risen ten fold and I can happily go up to someone and talk to them. Before I was afraid to make the first move, but now I'll happily say hi to people. I think friendships are a massive part of uni life because having friends and being able to relate to people makes things a little easier; say if you have a problem, or have to do group work it makes it easier to have a relationship with some people and have people you can turn to.

The course was pretty good as things go. It started off quite slow; it very much felt like they were trying to introduce us to the modules but as soon as 2nd Semester reared it's head we had quite a bit of free range to pick our own projects. I thrived with this aspect and it's really set me up well for my Summer Project and my second year. However some people didn't thrive with the independence. Something I have to stress about uni is that they ain't gonna spoon feed it to you! You're pretty much on your own. By all means you can ask your tutors for help but they aren't going to give you the answers any more. Like I said, some people thrive on this independence, others not so much.

I found money quite hard to budget in this year. I've never had this much money before so I went a little spendy in my first few months when in reality I should have been saving it. But we live and we learn ey'! Luckily my parents were quite lenient with the rent so I had about a month or so after each term where I couldn't pay it. So if that's one thing you take from this post; learn to budget! Saving up money at this point is probably the best thing you can do.

I was also a little off with my attendance, especially to my drawing module. It's no excuse to say I was going through a rough time, but if you've ever been in that situation then you know you don't want to do anything; let alone go to a class you feel real uncomfortable in.

Overall I was pretty happy with this first year. I was especially happy with my grade because towards the end my attitude really switched up and I put the effort in. I think this has really set me up well for second year and I hope that great stuff will happen! You'll have to forgive me, I didn't really know what to put in this post as I didn't really know what people wanted to read or know about university. I also didn't touch too much on the social life because I didn't really have one this past year; going out, getting drunk and going to nightclubs didn't interest me so I didn't partake in it. I hope you enjoyed this fairly rambly post. Let me know if you're planning on going to university or let me know your university experience! And do leave some questions below :)

Being a student for a little over a year now I've had to learn to cope with being on a tight budget. As such I have developed a few ways to be a "savvy shopper". I've learnt to read the offers, to fiddle with the coupons and to know when to shop. So I thought I would let y'all in on my little secrets!

1/ SHOP YOUR STASH

Possibly the most simplest forms of saving money. I don't know about you but I have this little box full of all my backups, dupes and just products that I've forgotten about. Whenever I'm on a spending ban, or I just don't have much money to spend frivolously I look through my stash of products and you will be surprised with what I come up with! Shampoos & conditioners I've opened but forgotten to use, face scrubs, face masks, make-up removers, cotton pads so much stuff. Before you think "I need that product!" take a look through you collection already and see if you have something similar and try that.

2/COUPONS

This is more towards the American's as I know y'all go crazy for couponing! But simply just trying to find coupons in your newspaper, magazine or online will be super helpful. I tend to get mine through the mail quite a bit but I also print some off from this site here. SuperSavvyMe is basically a site where you can see reviews of different products, get coupons, get the quickest sale; it's so handy! Also you have the option to write your opinions on products which are always hand to read!

3/USE THEM POINTS

Carrying on from the previous point, sign up to an points card! Pretty much everywhere make loyalty cards, where you can earn points for whatever you spend. Say you might have spent a little too much the previous month, no problem because you now have points to use on your card! My most used cards are Boots and Superdrug. But whenever I have the option to sign up to these I do; Tesco Clubcard, Space NK lotalty card, Costa card, The Works loyalty card, if you can get your hands on one, do it! Also signing up to these means you might get extra offers as well! Such as first notice of any sales, the chances for extra points and the chance for coupons!

4/OFFERS

Just be savvy with your shopping. If you see an essential that you know you're gonna need and it's on 3 for 2 then pick it up. Be smart with the offers that are in the stores right now. Even if it means you stand there for a little while figuring out what's what it'll all be worth it when you save money! Also before you plan on buying something it doesn't hurt to look online first; a lot of the time brands will have offers online that you can't get in store. Just be really conscientious of offers and where you're putting your money. It also doesn't hurt to google for coupon codes, I know I'm a sucker for doing this.

5/RETURN ITEMS

Don't be afraid to return items. Have a pair of jeans you bought a while back and haven't worn them? See if you can return them! At the very least they'll just say that you can't return them but you haven't lost anything. The other day I found two pinafores that I have had in my wardrobe since February time, from Asda. And I didn't think I could return them but I went only and clicked the return icon, took them into store and it was fine! Most of all I got an extra £20 in my account! Don't be afraid to try; just because you bought it doesn't mean you have to keep it.

6/KNOW WHEN TO SHOP

This kinda expands on the whole offer's thing. Knowing when to shop is kinda crucial if you want to save money. One of my biggest tips for this is buying summer clothing items in the winter and buying winter clothes in the summer. Quite often clothing shops have a massive turn around on all their stock; basically this means that they have to make room for new stock coming in. Alas, the sale begins! In the summer all of the winter stock goes on sale, this is the time to shop for your winter clothes! You can pick up jumpers, cardigans, jeans for less than £10. I particularly like Peacocks and Asda for these sales. And in the winter you can pick up shorts, tank tops and skirts for less than half of the price! A real simple way to save money. Also know when there's going to be a sale happening; sign up for email alerts, talk to colleagues, browse forums.

I hope this helped you to become a little bit more careful with you're money and that you picked up some tricks! I have some more tips so I may do a part 2 to this post! Let me know you're hidden tricks, I'm always looking for a bargain!

I just love organising my make-up. The process of going through all my products and setting them out into different categories, throwing some products away is all very therapeutic for me. Whenever I clean my room (which is about 1-2 times a week) I have to go through my make-up stash and see what I need to use more of and what I don't like and I always like to have a little shift around with different ways to organise it.

Recently I've come up with this way system of organising my make-up. First up we have this green stationary, plastic drawer set. Not the most glamorous of contraptions but I needed something quick to organise my make-up so in this came. In the first drawer I have all my base products; primers, concealers, back-up concealers, foundations, blush, bronzer, powder, the lot! Because I organise my make-up so rigorously I don't have that much of it. If I don't like something I'll just throw it away or give it to my sister. That way I keep a nice rotation amongst my stash.

The second drawer is made up of powder eye-shadows, cream eye-shadows, eye-liners, lip liners, mascara's, gel eye-liners, felt tip eye-liners, lipsticks, lip stains, chubby sticks, basically just a whole load of lip and eye products! I don't have too many lip products so I didn't really feel that they needed their own drawer. I also like the idea of a "full drawer" it kinda makes me feel like I don't need to buy any more make-up? A new little idea of mine, I'll let you know how I get on!

And the third and final drawer is full of my "everyday skincare". I put that in sarcastic quote marks because it's not technically my everyday skin care, just stuff I use regularly. The products I feel I need to get to easily, otherwise I'll just forget about them. So we have some skin care samples, some half used items, stuff I need to use up before it goes out of date. I go in this drawer everyday for moisturisers etc so it's easy for me to see what I gotta use!

Not the most majestic of storage contraptions but for now it does more than the job. I don't want to invest in Muji drawers, but I need something a little more sophisticated. If you get my drift? I hate acrylic storage, it just feels cheap to me. I shall update you if my storage situation changes!

How do you store your make-up?

I'm not really feeling the name of this post, but I couldn't think of anything else to call it. I don't think this is grungy at all (we are saying that grunge is a style here, inspired by the music genre), at least it doesn't come across in the photos as grungy. However in real life I promise it's much more darker/brown toned. Ever since Kylie Jenner hit puberty and found lip-liner everyone's been on the perfect lip-colour hunt. I found this gorgeous colour from No7's Moisture Drench Lipstick called Romantic. It's a lovely brown, nude that has a slight pink undertone running through it.

I dab this on top of my natural lip colour because I really like how it works with my natural tone. I can't really explain this colour without doing it an injustice but it's a more natural version of what would be considered a "grungy" colour. Hence the everyday title. I just love throwing this on with a dab of concealer, slick of mascara a little bit of a cream eyeshadow. I look "done" without putting any real effort or thought into the look. I really think grungy, 90's inspired looks are making a comeback but they are having a subtle feminine twist on them this time. Think Sky Ferreira mixed with Emma Stone. Kylie Jenner is a slightly more masculine version of this (in the terms of how she puts together outfits) but a worthy candidate for inspiration.

What do you think about the revival of the 90's make-up?

Before I start with the review I have to apologise for the quality of the images, I couldn't find anything that would be perfect for this so I had to make do with good ol' Google! Spiral is a fairly un-heard of film and after watching it I can kinda get why.

It's targeted at a very niche market of people, in my opinion. If you love horror and are quite passionate about horror or just interested in serial killers then this'll be for you. Made in 2007; we follow a man who at a first glance seems very normal; normal job, normal life. But what's going on inside his head is less than normal. What exactly is happening here is very much left open to interpretation, things aren't made clear for you. So if you're after a clean cut movie where they give you the answers then this won't tickle your pickle. But if you want more of a puzzle to solve, something you can really get your teeth into or a movie that'll make you think then I'd give this a go.

At first I enjoyed this film but I didn't really understand it. I had to watch a few times just to catch some things that I had missed the first round. One thing that caught my eye was that this film is centred around art and that the main protagonist is a free-lance artist. Makes sense, the majority of artists are bat-shit cray cray. (Did I just say cray cray? Of course I'm joking.) Anyway, I was really intrigued with how the creation of his art really mimicked his spiral down into craziness. Bet you liked that pun, huh?

There's a lot more visual imagery in this movie than there is actual storyline. Hence why I think it might be a little hard for the average movie-goer to understand. But the storyline is there and it's fairly average which is what I expect with a movie that has imagery as powerful as this. In these terms it's in the same running as something like Eraserhead, but far less sophisticated.

I say watch it and see what you think. I picked up the DVD for no more than a fiver and it's for sure going to be a permanent staple in my collection. With movies I think it's very hard to give a review as with the majority of things it affects different people in different ways. All I can tell you is my opinion. I hope you liked this post and do let me know if you've seen this and you're thoughts on it!

Hmm. Yup, it's that product that everyone loves and raves about. I don't know what it is; whether I got the dodgy one in the batch, or one that had been opened, but I REALLY did not get on with this mascara. I had extremely high hopes for this (maybe that's where I went wrong) and expected it to perform magic on my normally flat lashes, but it just didn't live up to expectations.

First things first, it flakes like a b***h! I hadn't even left the house and half my mascara was flaking down my face. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit. But it flaked a hell of a lot, compared to my other mascaras! I'm actually wearing it in my Eyeko Skinny Liner Review, and you can see it just made a mess of my eye make-up. Bare in mind that that was only one layer.

Another major con is the smell. At the time, I wasn't that familiar with Maybelline mascaras but after trying a few they just smell god awful. There's something quite addictive about it though, like a Sharpie. But it just smells fake and plastic; really old fashioned and not pleasant at all! The smell doesn't go away either, it lingers for a large majority of the day.

The formula is pretty naff as well. Where it promised flared, voluminous, lengthened lashes I was left with flat, weighted down lashes. Not a happy bunny, especially after I had just curled them. It's also quite weird, the formula, because throughout wear time it comes off so easily (through flaking, smudging, what have you) but when it comes to actually taking it off with make-up remover it just did not want to budge. I used a duo phase eye make-up remover, and I had to really scrub where I normally would just swipe.

Lastly, the packaging is awkward. The shape of it make it hard to hold the brush and get a precise application and the tube get's really dirty. My mascara's don't normally get dirty but the product just got everywhere. However, the brush was nice to use and allowed me to get right down to the root of the lash.

I don't know whether I'm just being a bit harsh on the product, or whatever circumstances could affect my judgement but I really did not like it. I honestly don't see how people can rave about this product so much. I have mascaras that are not only cheaper, but do a far better job than this!

Sorry Maybelline, maybe next time!

Autumn 2013 AKA the year I started my love affair with oversized cardigans. On those days when you're just not feeling it I always throw on a cardigan on top of whatever outfit I'm wearing and I'm set to go. They're my comfort zone in every sense of the word. I'm not exactly the skinniest of gals out there and I don't really claim to be, if anything I dress myself as a bigger size then what I am just because I like to be comfortable. I have a tummy, I have big hips, thighs and shoulders but unfortunately Mother Nature was a bit stingy in the boob department (maybe I was the last in line at her waiting room or I did something to really tick her off, who knows?!) But I work with what I've got, and that's the most important thing, shake what your Mumma gave ya, no matter what it is!

However I do like to cover up, just because that's how I'm comfortable. As I mentioned I'm a bit lack lustre in the boob area so I don't really like to draw attention to it. A perfect way I've found to do this is to wear a cardigan. I can be fashionable while being comfortable, plus an extra layer of warmth is always handy in England.

In general I go for boring colours in my wardrobe, I think it's because I find it easier to dress up an outfit then to dress down. So I have an array of brown, grey, beige and white. My personal favourite cardigan of the bunch is this really oversized, super worn in beige one. I think, once upon a time, this was white but now it's gone off white; I don't mind though. It's lovely and thick with gorgeous, wooden effect button details. The design of it makes it easy to snag it on a piece of furniture or something but in my opinion that just adds character and shows it's been worn. I can really tell that this will be in my wardrobe for years to come.

I also have a soft spot for this grey one, as it's quite fitted, but oversized at the same time. It also hits me perfectly, so I don't look too short or too tall. With my cardigans I think it best to just pair them with jeans/leggings and a tank top. If I'm going to be comfortable then I'm going to be comfortable all throughout my outfit. Throw on and go is my life motto. However I've also been taking inspiration from Anna (from Anna-Lee and Jesse) and pairing an oversized cardigan with a dress and some boots; simple and chic but with an edge.

Cardigans are pretty essential in English Summer, as it's too hot for a jacket but the wind makes it impossible to go out without something on so the solution is a cardigan. The English Summer Staple.
BOURJOIS 123 PERFECT CC CREAM ¦ £9.99

Since around Christmas time Bourjois have really been on point with their releases; with the likes of L'Oreal, Revlon and Maybelline upping their game and releasing some super cool products over the past 2 years, Bourjois kinda have fallen a bit behind in my books. I always see it as more of a "luxury" drugstore brand because some of their products are quite expensive for what they are, especially since most of the range is a little hit and miss, and they don't mix up their collections a whole lot.

But Bourjois' foundations have always been pretty good. Since the release of their 123 Perfect line I've found a little soft spot for the brand, especially for this little gem. The 123 Perfect CC Cream is a blend of 3 correcting pigments: Apricot to correct anti-fatigue, green to correct anti-redness and white to balance out those pesky dark-spots. Now I have to stress here that this is not your standard foundation, nor is it a tinted moisturiser and it's not a BB (Beauty Balm) Cream. CC (Colour Corrector) Creams are a whole new kettle of fish which I didn't want to buy into but I've fallen for this product.

It's a sheer, but quite buildable, coverage that isn't going to cover breakouts (but it doesn't claim to), however it does tone down the redness of them. It just evens out your skin tone, making it look like your skin but better. That phrase is thrown around a lot in the beauty world, but this really just melts into the skin. It's very well known that Bourjois are owned by Chanel (or they other way around, I don't know the logistics!) and we all know that Chanel's colour range is less than impressive and Bourjois are no different. I have the lightest shade, 31 Ivory and this is a tad too dark for me, but because it's so sheer I can make it work. Also reminiscent of Chanel foundations, it has a very noticeable scent, but I quite like it and it's not a deal-breaker for me however if you are offended by scents easily, I'd go in store and give this a whiff before you buy.

I don't know if I buy into the whole AA/BB/CC/DD Creams, but I do know that this works as a lovely sheer base for summer. I have found this applies best with my fingers, so I can really build it up and push it into my skin. If it needs it, I'll go over it lightly with my buffing brush but I don't put any extra product on. I do this more to settle my mind that everything is all blended. It dries to a demi-matte, almost satin, "lit from within" finish. The packaging is a bit "meh", It's a squeezy-tube-contraption (which is great for hygiene!) that has a tendency to leak a little bit and is a bit of a runny formulae but thats a bit of a whatever to me because the product is grand. And if you saw my Foundation Low Down you know that I don't like many base products.

If you buy one thing this summer, then pick up this. It's beautiful.
