Nose Piercing: My Experience

So a couple of days ago I made the, relatively impulsive, decision to get my nose pierced.
I've always wanted a piercing and as such have had many arguments with my parents when I was younger and convinced that eyebrow, cheek, tongue and lip piercings were all excellent ideas and great for a 13 year old to have!
The modern-day 18 year old me is slightly more responsible and slightly less prone to getting my face stabbed with a needle. It took me a good few weeks to decide I waned to get it done, and after many walk by's of my local piercing shop and watching a lot of stomach turning youtube videos of other people getting pierced I finally made the plunge and did it.
I'm writing this on the Sunday and I got it pierced on the Thursday and I have to say it is healing nicely. It is still a little sore and, dare I say bruised? But it is coming along nicely and I have safely fallen in love with it.

After hearing horror stories from what my friends ave experienced with piercings and bad piercers I was a little hesitant but I'm so glad I finally did it.
Now I went to my local tattoo parlour, who also do piercings, and enquired about getting my nose pierced. I HATE to be stereotypical in any fashion but I do find tattooed people to be very intimidating. I'm an easily intimidated person as it is, but there's something about big tattooed and pierced men that make me crumble with fear.
But I'm happy to report back that there was no crumbling from me as I soon found out the guy who was to do my piercing was lovely!

After all the paper work was out of the way, we (big thanks to my best friend Brogan for accompanying me) went up to the piercing studio and he sat me down and talked me through everything.
He constantly asked me if I was sure of doing this and was very gentle in introducing me to the needle.
Before going ahead with the piercing he cleaned up the area and marked where it was to be pierced before asking me if I liked the positioning.
I agreed and he then introduced me to the clamp. He tried it out first so I could get a feeling for it and then told me what he was going to do.
Placing the clamp on my nose he told me to take a big breath in and as I was told to breathe out he put the needle through.
NOW let me tell you it was not a all painful! At the time it was like a sharp pinch, and more irritating than anything else.
He then went about putting the piercing in etc and was constantly asking me how I felt.
I am naturally quite pale, but apparently I looked particularly pale so had to lie down. He also gave me a lollie-pop to get my sugar levels back up. (it was a cola lollie and I was very excited)
He then cleaned up the area and positioned the piercing in the easiest position and I was good to go!
*excuse the shoddy camera I wanted to take a quick snap on my i-Phone to put up on Instagram!*
This was taken about an hour after I got it pierced.

It's safe to say I am in love with my piercing and cannot wait till I can change it to a ring!
An extremely pleasant experience as well. I half expected for my eyes to be streaming and to be in extreme pain but no, no pain really!

Lastly my advice to anyone considering a piercing is:
Do your research! You must know what you're getting yourself into and also who is going to be doing your piercing. I researched the place that I knew I was going to go to thoroughly and looked at previous piercings that had been done there before deciding.
Also consider your options. You don't have to get a piercing done. If you want to that's great! But consider your job opportunities and whether or not your place of work/school will allow it.
Don't let anyone peer pressure you! At the end of the day it's your body and it's your decision and you have to be prepared to live with it! Don't let anyone pressure you to do something you're not 100% sure of.

I hope this will help some piercing novices out there (like me)! And I hope you have found this interesting(?) to read whether you're getting a piercing or not.

Much love

Deanna xo
